It's not like we're family, and we don't work together. I don't see YOU and you don't see me. And what if my question offends not you, but "somebody"? Does it matter if my queston offends this "somebody", whoever he is?

Jesus loves you, even if you're rude.

That's an interesting question and certainly not offensive.

However, there are questions or comments that are made where the author intends to offend, demean, vilify, dehumanize or inflame a person or group of people. I tend to consider speech offensive when it isn't intended to be constructive.

Someone who is constructively exploring an element of the human experience such as race, religion, politics, gender and cultural differences, etc. should not necessarily be concerned what other people think if those people being offended are not being constructive and open-minded.

I think that the answer to your question may be to ask yourself; "What is my motivation for asking or saying this?" If you're not pleased with your motivation then maybe you were offensive and should be concerned.

Any question that is asked runs the risk of offending somebody no matter how bland or innocent you try to make the question.

Worrying if you will offend someone will only lead to you not getting the information you seek. So go ahead and ask your question. If you don't intend to offend anyone, then don't worry about it.

Someone is always going to be offended. I think the only thing necessary is to ensure we all follow the guidelines in our questioning. And always keep in mind that children (some very young) are on this site. Beings respectful is the only thing required some people will be offended simply because they are offended by everything/anything at the moment. God bless****

If they get offended that's their problem. It's sort of like a CB radio that truckers use. If someone says something that is offensive to another person then that person will do one of two things. 1) {being the better choice} would be to turn the volume switch off so they don't have to listen to it, or
2) engage in a argument with that person causing a domino effect with other listeners. Don't worry about them getting offended. That is something they can control.

Not really, but it still hurts. Not to be a Nancy-Girl, just makin a point. The fact is you have the right to ask anything you like. For example what if I took a poll entitled:

"Who thinks that all Muslims are card carrying terrorists hell bent on killing everyone on the planet with their tyranic fundamentalist beliefs while shouting ALALALALALA ARALALALALALA?!!!!!!"

Of course theres no proof at all to back this up. It's not like you see muslims running around blowing people up or anything...but it would still be offensive. Anyway just making a point :)

of course, it does matter!
why would you say or do things that may offend somebody else?
we are free to do anything, but let's not use this freedom to hurt or undermine other persons feelings.
you just can't say bad things about somebody else race or religion, this is taboo.
While it is true that whatever we say or do we will not be able to please everyone, being displeased and getting offended is two different things.

Actually, it doesn't matter. However. people can view all the questions you have posted in the past. If you post too many that are offensive or just plain stupid, people will ignore you because you are an idiot. Then you won't get legitimate answers when you really want them.

Well....this is one of those questions that only YOU, yourself, can answer because what matters to me might not matter to you. If I had asked the question myself, the answers would have all been null and void because no opinion on this particular subject should matter to me....or, in this instance, to you. If your question offends someone, does that bother you? As for my opinion, it doesn't matter, or it shouldn't matter to you.
