Yes, and more! This is a magical place - there is always something to do here. Great museums, great restaurants, great people. I will never live anywhere else.

Oh yes! But you have to see it at Christmas or around November-January. I went in Jan this year and for Christmas a couple of years ago and absolutely loved it. Don't believe all those people than moan about it.
As soon as we got there on Christmas Eve we went straight to the Rockerfella Centre and watched the ice skaters. All the buildings had wonderful lights on them and it really was like the scene from a movie. We then went into FAO Schwartz - a massive toy store but brilliant for adults. Christmas there was an experience I will never forget.
This year we explored South Street Seaport, which is full of great restaurants and shops, walked over the Brooklyn Bridge and found some superb restaurants off the beaten track. We explored Greenwich too which is very cute with great shops and little cafe's. The Empire State Building was strange, it doesn't look anything special from the ground, but once at the top it's amazing. Go there at night to make the most of the views. Go to the Rockerfella Centre during the day and go to the top and you get great views of Central Park.
But I think it is better when it is cold, when it's warm it really really gets hot and stuck on busy sidewalks and shops and can a pain.
If you want more info please feel free to email me.

NY is beyond the hype. It's great any time of the year. Bring comfy walking shoes - it's the best way to get around. Don't be afraid of the subway - it's cheaper than a taxi and not as scary as some people suggest. The subway stops at or near most major attractions.

No where lives up to the hype. That includes Paris and London. Yet the hype does get the blood boiling and does add excitement to the traveling experience.

Depends on what you mean by "hype". I found it to be much busier than they ever show on TV. I almost had my eye poked out by an umbrella spoke! Prices are outrageous. A hot chocolate at Starbucks was $6!!
Course, it is beautiful at Christmastime. Rockerfeller Center, carriage ride in the park (don't bother if they're filming a movie... my ride was short and we couldn't go all the way in!)... and the windows are decorated so awesome!
I could never live there though....... but I'd visit again.

My sister went there and she says it definitely is the city that doesn't sleep. She said it is very hectic like London but more so. Lots to see and do. She say the usual places of interest Empire state building, statue of liberty, the intrepid ship, did loads of shopping etc. She also saw ground zero and felt very emotional but moved by the experience. She loved New York. Loved central park and time square.
She also said that food is dead cheap and that the portions are massive.

It's a great city to visit indeed. There really is no other place like it...with the amount of attractions, shopping, restaurants, etc. It can be overwhelming at times, 3-5 days is enough.

If you mean up to it's reputation then i would say yes. I was there last year for St. Paddy's Day and it was fantastic but was so cold! If you are planning on going take plenty of dollars with you as it is very expensive compared to other states in the US. There is loads to see & do so take a good pair of walking shoes....you will do plently of it! Good luck.

You bet! I've been here my whole life and I still enjoy walking around like a tourist. There's just so much to do here, always changing, and the people are nice (I say this in all honesty!)
I've traveled throughout the U.S., seen its big cities and remote areas, but every time, it's always great to come back home.
It never gets old.
