"Celebrities" like Paris Hilton, Kevin Federline, etc. are the product of a 24-hour media.

With the advent of round-the-clock cable news, there reached a point that air time needed to be filled, and somehow, Hollywood became fodder for the news media. In the days of the three-network, 6 and 11-only newscasts, stories about Tom Cruise's wacky persona and Paris Hilton's jail time wouldn't have ever seen the light of day. In fact, few people would know who Paris Hilton was.

The media says that they are simply giving the public what they want. I once begged to differ, as I knew NOBODY who cared about Paris Hilton. Two days ago, I learned that Paris Hilton's appearance on Larry King last week drew phenomenal ratings.

We are doomed.

What kind of fame does she have?
Her life will come and go and be forgotten soon enough.
Sadly the public loves to see controversial figures. That's why the media puts her out front, even in jail.
Her life is not one to be admired.
I actually feel sorry for her and her family. They will never have the privacy and closeness a real family can enjoy.
Besides, no matter how much money a person has, it does not make them any smarter, it just buys them out of predicaments.

Poor old Paris is famous for being famous. She's done virtually nothing to deserve the media attention she gets.

It depends on your exact definition of fame.

Mozart and Einstein are rightfully famous, and their memory will be with us for a long time, and they are known to nearly every culture on earth.

Hilton's fame, and that of her ilk, is shallow, short-lived and will be forgotten before this generation is buried.

Ah comon. Give it a break. Very few people become famous that are too lazy or rich or whatever to maintain it. She may have been born in it but she has to roll her sleeves up and work hard to stay there.

Guess that was enough.
Isn't it amazing what mommy and daddy can do?
I used to like her right up until she faked a nervous break down to get out of prison.
Why don't mommy and daddy let her pay for her own mistakes just like everybody else?
