Chiang Mai to Newcastle via Schipol....

15th Feb 08 return 28 Feb 08... Ironically the cheapest flight came up as via BKK and AMS without me even specifying that...

£739.90
(all prices incl. of taxes and fees)

That's travelling on those dates (you can of course be more specific with those dates and shop around a little!!!) on http://www.ebookers.com

Expedia charges more and you have to take Paris on the way out and AMS on the way back...

19:15 Depart Chiang Mai (CNX)
Arrive Newcastle (NCL) 10:55 +1 day Fri 15-Feb
Duration: 22hr 40min Thai Air International 117
Air France 173 / 5851
Connect in Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi), Paris (CDG)

16:20 Depart Newcastle (NCL)
Arrive Chiang Mai (CNX) 18:25 +1 day Thu 28-Feb
Duration: 19hr 5min KLM 964 / 877
Thai Air International 116
Connect in Amsterdam (AMS), Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi)

That's here http://www.expedia.co.uk

Trust me, trying to get individually priced flights does NOT work.... CNX - AMS with Thai alone costs £1111 (84425 THB) and changes at BKK AND Munich! Ugh!

I had thought that with so many cheap flights between the UK and AMS that it might have helped... **ah well**

My last hope was http://www.lastminute.com... alas am still waiting for it to load....... **20 hours later....** OK that also came up as more expensive.... £782...

Interestingly enough most flights defaulted to connecting via AMS... I didn't even have to specify it.

These don'e sound VERY cheap.... however the NCL bit would add a little to the cost I should imagine.... it might save you a little to just travel to LON (LHR or GTW are OK, although there are bus links to STN) and MIGHT save you a little to do the LON - NCL by road (http://www.nationalexpress.co.uk has fares from £1 each way and have direct coaches from Heathrow Airport/LHR)

Good luck, hope you have a good time!!! :-)

Do you mean Shanghai? Don't know about flights via Schipol, but direct flights appear to be available to Newcastle. Prices vary (Newcastle - Shanghai) between £380 and £500
