I'm sure you will get the same answer over all but here it is :
1. Don't try a quick fix or trendy diet. Those usually do not last very long.
2. Diet - cut out all of the soft drinks, candy, chips.
3. Exercise- you don't have just up and go walk 4 miles, but do break a sweat and get your heart pumping harder than it would. Push yourself. Not to the extent of vomiting or any of that but when you feel like you want to quit (after your heart rate is up and your breaking a sweat) go for another say 5 mins.
4. Stick to your plan. While on the diet don't think that one doughnut , one bag of chips, or one piece of chocolate won't hurt. It will.
5. Even after you lose the weight continue to watch what you eat and continue to exercise. Once you get down to your goal weight then every once in a while if you want to sneak in that chocolate bar or that soda then go for it. Just do not go overboard with it because all your weight will be back.
Remember that the only way to stick to your goal is to make it a realistic one. If you are 350 lbs, don't set your goal for 135. Set it for say 275 or 250 and once you get down to that then, say ok now i want to lose another 50. In the long run you will end up losing all what you want to lose but it won't seem like such an impossible goal.
Good luck.

To keep the weight off, you need to change your entire lifestyle to include better eating habits and more exercise. Eat lots of veggies and fruits without sauces and sugar. Forget chips exist and include pies, cakes, cookies and all those other good tasting, carb and calorie loaded things. Breakfast should be your biggest meal because you have all day to burn the calories. Supper should be the smallest, and snacks between your evening meal and bed time must disappear.
For exercise, you can join a gym. Sometimes, just the fact y ou're paying for the space will get people to use it. When you go to the store, park far away from the entrance so you have to walk more. When doing household chores, take a lot of steps. It's not much fun, but it helps burn calories.
I read someplace that three 10 minute stints of exercise are better for you than one 30 minute workout. I don't know if that's true, but it would be easier to work into your schedule.
Good luck.

Something that would be easy to keep up with but hard to do is cut out any unhealthy foods from your diet ,and if you kept doing that until 2008, it really would help alot! Then exercise. Take a walk every other night or so.
Also you could join the weight watcher's program, you will see good resuls in no time. My neighbor signed up for it a few months back and I could not believe the results he had. It was incredible. But you have to really keep up with it and focus on your goal.

I know alot of people don't like this idea but a low carb diet is GREAT. I don't recommend it if you are prone to kidney stones though. I lost 28 lbs in 1 month and felt great. Just stay off of dairy and anything loaded with carbs and the weight will fall off. Don't forget to exercise. I walked a mile a day, sometimes more if I felt good.
Just be sure to see your Dr. before starting this diet.

I would recomend talking tour family doctor and asking him to send you to a dietitan who could help you find a meal plan that would work for you. My husband had no will power and had to have gastric bypass surgery 4 weeks ago. so far he has lost 37 pounds. This maybe something for you also. It would be better if you could do it on your own though. I wish you the best of luck and don't give up, you deserve a life of feeling better.
