Move the paper close to the door, a little each day. Eventually you will go out the door.

move the paper closer to the door you always want them to go out of the use the bathroom, a little each day. Make a BIG deal when you see him go over to the paper...ask Do you have to go out?!!!? ( or whatever you choose). Pick him up and take him outside since you know he has to go. he should be on a leash in the beginning so he does not get distracted. After he goes give him a treat! Good Luck

We slowly moved the paper closer and closer to the door. Finally the paper was placed outside and the dog would run out there to use it. Eventually (using a code word) the dog learned to go outside and pee without the need for papers at all.

Have you tried putting the paper outside? Or maybe gradually moving it closer to the door and then outside so your puppy gets the idea?

My sister tried the "closer to the door" trick and it worked with her dog. She just simply moved the newspaper a little each day, closer to the door. The only problem she had with this was that the last place she put the newspaper was on the doorsteps. After that her dog always used the doorstep! So you might want to keep moving the newspaper to a better suited location.

I concur with several of the answers, including Grandma 2,
This sounds like the most practical and logical plan to convince the puppy to go outside.
Thank you

First, learn your puppies "i gotta go" signs...then move the paper to the door that you will be taking puppy out through...so he gets used to going to the door. Then when you see puppy going to the paper displaying the "i Gotta go" signs, quickly let puppy out and praise her/him when he/she goes potty. worked for my dog.
