No, but we must expect more of ourselves. We shouldn't pray for miracles and then sit back and wait for God. We have to take the first steps ourselves.

Yes,
imagination and fanaticism can lead many believer into false doctrines and tradition that are nothing lest the lies.

I have fallen into this category as well. I expect God to answer every prayer and every question i lay before HIS feet. He has proven to refuse Everything I ask of HIM, and now and then He has immediately and miraculously answered a few things.

I think if we expect to SEE God face to face, We have to submit to His Ways. Not meeting HIM 1% of the way and expecting me to meet us the 99%. I think this lesson means we must be willing to go 99% of the way and Possibly He will determine to meet us at 50% of the way.

it is clearly written however: those who seek HIM with all their heart will Find Him. it is also very well and clearly written that Jesus will come to Such people and Eat DINNER (sup) with them. and then again it is also written that both Jesus and His Father will COME unto such people that Love Them.
I once set an extra plate for dinner expecting that He would come just because I did so. it didnt happen.

Then again, I have laid in bed for several weeks and was greeted by a spirit being, I do not know, and several spirits even as I recognized their presense(s). but they are more like manifestation rather than visitations and more like a holographic image rather than a vision.
i have often asked christians if Jesus and satan appeared to them if they could know the difference between the two separate persons, because of these experiences.

thanks for the question.

Expecting anything of God is expecting too much of God.

You can never expect too much from God. You can be erroneous and like most of us want God to fix it fast but perhaps there is a better way to relate and that is to let Him do His thing and you do yours and if things arent right between you two well, what is happening that is making you feel this way.

To expect anything of God, is to expect too much of God. Depend on no one and fend for yourself.

I don't like the whole idea of EXPECTING things from God. It seems more beneficial to me to ask for strength to bear-up under what I've been given in live and for guidance to make the right decisions in the future.
As I see it, we have one thing to expect, if we do our part, and that is given to you in John 3:16.

It is useless for you people to expect too much about God when you have no faith in God.

No. But does does expect us to be creative.
When I was young I prayed for a new bike. When that didn't work, I went out and stole one. Then I prayed for forgiveness.
I fully expect God to forgive me.

If you expect ANYTHING from god, you are expecting too much... just like if you were expecting something from the herd of invisible pink unicorns that occupies your back yard.
