I have the orignal Windows Xp Home Edition CD which was shipped with my notebook. I have reinstalled my OS, now the activation key does not work. I have reinstalled this twice before. So how can i bypass this validation without contacting microsoft.
Thanks in advance.

If its Genuine Windows then I dont think you will face any problem in activating it. If not you have to contact microsoft. Since you say that its original why dont you wanna contact Microsoft??

contacting microsoft is not that painful. If what you are saying is true, and the OS is legit, they will just read off the activation cose to you over the phone and not even charge you for it. The whole process will be over in under 5 minutes. The worst part of the process for me was trying to understand the guy from India's broken english, but I got a laugh when he claimed his name was Ralph.

AFAIK, if you change any hardware or you reinstalled XP more than 3 times, you must call Microsoft and enter a new key that they give you.

It's just a short, toll-free call to India. Good luck trying to understand the dude though!

You Can't, you will have to call the activation # & get a new Installation key. As long as you registered your computer when you first got it, & you Give the same info to the customer service person they will give it to you free. It is a pain in the Butt I know!

Dou you copy the wpa.bak and wpa.dbl files before installation? I mean that is the only way to skip the activation process.
If not, just insert your phone line and activate online.Less than a minute.
