Definitely use a crate. Make sure it is not too big or he will just pee in the corner of it. Watch him very carefully for signs of heading to the door or sniffing. He is looking for a place to pee. Don't allow him much freedom in the house until he is trustworthy. Make the crate a fun place by feeding him in there and giving him treats. The crate works so well because it is a natural need for dogs, the need for a den. They instinctually know to keep it clean. It really works!

You dont know when - you can just hope you get them out before they go - so i would so every hour sneak it out to try - but 20 mins after food or water is a must- and then another hour after that- I know it sounds too much but if you do it for a week you and your dog will figure out the times to go together. It takes alot of time to train- And if you are gonna do potty pads- then only one spot- Should work well fro you - just the first week will be rough- but give it a try it willl work

Take him outside.

Are you using a crate?
