A lot of it depends on what it is screwed into. Is it a wood screw or a metal screw?

If it's metal, then you can either use a chisel or hack saw to cut in another slot and try to use that to loosen the screw. If that fails, then you can grind the head off and then hopefully you can seperate the pieces, then a pair of vise grips firmly clamped on the shaft and try to turn it out. Finally, you can drill the shaft of the screw out and use a tool called an easy out.

If it's wood, then try the hacksaw to cut the slot in the head, and try to unscrew it using as large a screwdriver as you can fit in. Secondly, try the drill and the easy out. Good luck

You can place a flat headed screwdriver over the head and hit the handle with a hammer. After a few whacks it should ease out.

A dremmel moto tool will cut a slot in the head very nicely. Then use a flat head screwdriver.

Been there done that.

what you could try is to get a hacksaw and attempt to cut a slot into the screw so that it can take a screwdriver

Most likely you will have to use a drill and drill it out unless you can get ahold of it with pliers to turn it.

No clean way to do it. You need to hack it out and then re-seal the resulting hole with filler.
