Heres a good idea,as the government will lose so much revenue from the tax on cigarettes lets raise the congestion charge and also introduce it to all cities and while we are at it lets double parking fines and all cars over 1.6 litres. Will the non smoking goody goody's be happy with this? Oh and don't forget to put a green tax on all airline tickets of 25%

Totally agree with taff. Where do all the non smokers think the lost tax from this is coming, FROM THEM. Not only lost on cigarettes all businesses like pubs wont sell so much booze more lost tax .At least in designated areas , only those that smoke need to be there. Everybody in the street smoking, every child walking past watching them, very sensible I dont think. People being put in danger going for cigarettes in hiding places and not putting them out properly, or going like that poor nurse and being murdered at night. Who would she have bothered outside with an ashtray nearer to the doors in safety.
As for the health of the nation, next will be the drinkers , then the ones who eat too much, all pressure on the national health not just smoking..

If you want to start throwing away years of your life and £50 notes then by all means start smoking.
