Although a Christian myself, I personally believe Christianity and Islam are just 2 different ways of worshipping the same God. Neither side has the right to condemn the other.
I believe all this fighting is the work of our common enemy: Satan =)
Who else would want to spread this much contention?

By "fighting" do you mean "disagreeing"? It seems that you are talking about theology and not warfare, so that is how I will answer.
True, the quran mentions Jesus numerous times, but consistently contradicts Jesus' words in the Gospels, Epistles, and Revelation. Muslims explain this by saying that the New Testament has been changed. In other words, they are saying that the New Testament is full of lies! There are many problems with their theory. Perhaps the biggest problem is the historical, archaeological, and manuscript evidence that supports the New Testament. The New Testament has NOT changed. Therefore it is the quran that is wrong.
All the New Testament documents came before the quran. The New Testament manuscripts have many more copies than any other ancient manuscripts. We can be sure of their authenticity. If muhammed was a true prophet his words would agree with Jesus. But muhammed continually contradicts Jesus and misquotes Jesus.
The same is true for the books of the Old Testament. Muhammed was illiterate. He had heard about the Bible, but had never read it himself. He didn't know the Bible very well and made many mistakes when talking about the Bible and the people and events in the Bible. Muslims try to defend muhammed's ignorance by saying that the Bible was corrupted and changed.
IF the Bible were so corrupt, then why would a "prophet' try to quote it and refer to it so much?
Historical research proves both the Old and New Testaments to be reliable.
So muhammed got it wrong.
It's as simple as that.
The biggest difference between Christianity and Islam is salvation.
Islam, like basically every religion, says that one must earn his salvation. A person must be good enuf to go to heaven.
Christianity stands alone is teaching that we can never be good enuf. IF we are saved, it is only by GOD's grace. Jesus died on the cross to pay for our sins in full. "IT IS FINISHED."
Muslims work for salvation that they can never attain.
Christians (true Christians) rest in the wonderful work that GOD has already done. We can be joyful and at peace knowing that we are already saved.

That sounds good from an outsider's perspective but as a Christian, and I don't mean any disrespect to the Muslim people, but to say that Christ was just a man underminds the basic belief of Christianity. You must believe Jesus was the Son of God, God in a man's body to be a Christian. Anything less than that is not acceptable. It doesn't matter how many other similarities we may share.

I personally don't hate muslims and I am not responsible for actions of others , I do not support Crusades the same that I do not support Radical Islamism.
I just don't understand how it is that when muslims say they believe in Jesus they still put Mohammed as the greatest.
Nevertheless I love Muslims and I have much respect for them, the same that I have much respect for many Jewish people.
But the same one as the other has put tradition over divination. But the ones I really hate are the occultists leaders of this world, false Jewish, Muslims, and Christians.

The basic reason for muslim-christian fight is ignorance, misunderstanding and lack of respect from both sides. If muslims can remember the days of the prophet when persecution was so much on him, he was ordered to migrate. One of the places he sent his people was to a christian king. After hearing what Islam is all about, he remarked, "the difference between us is a very thin line" he sheltered and protected them. So if only our religious leaders from both sides will devout their time in educating us we will have a very peaceful co-existence. No basis for fight between Christians and Muslims at all. it is all out of ignorance and in some cases, greed for power by some elites. e.g. the Nigerian case.

you mean both Christianity and Islam are derivatives of a prior older religion - Judaism.
so no wonder they have a lot in common, since they both copied from the same source.
but, thinking about the way Jews were treated by Christians, I doubt if there is a hope for mutual tolerance between those two faiths.

In my opinion believing in [holy] trinity has caused all these problems . As far as I know muslims have been always respecting Jesus as Koran encourages them to do so . Your question reminded me of this verse :
Say: "O people of the Book! Do ye disapprove of us for no other reason than that we believe in God, and the revelation that hath come to us and that which came before (us), and (perhaps) that most of you are not righteous" (Koran-5:59)

I don' t fight with anybody and I am Muslim. I don't honestly care what other people believe in, but I do respect our differences and don't try to convert anybody. You are right that we should focus on our similarities and not our differences but that is difficult when I am being told I am going to hell for not believing that Jesus is the son of God and our saviour (I do respect Jesus as one of God's messengers) I accept others for who they are but apparently the same cannot be said for me and my beliefs.

It is true that both Islam and Christianity have many things in common. Islam and Christianity do have differences that are key doctrinally though. This doesn't mean that we shouldn't tolerate each other.

That's the main reason why Muslims & Christians (also add Jews) will ALWAYS be in conflict. Each one of them say that their religion is the right one. That's because they are similar that they fight, if the religions were different there would not be a conflict at all.
