You don't!! Mating dogs join together as if stuck it's called a tie. It is quite normal although it doesn't have to happen for a successful mating.

A male dog's equipment can actually bend back on itself to allow a tie to happen. There is a gland at the base of the dog's penis that swells up, muscles in bitches vulva contract around this swelling and hold the dogs together. When the ***** relaxes at the end of mating, they will come apart.

Never force the issue, you'll injure one or both animals. Although the question has to be asked if you haven't a clue what goes on why are you allowing your dogs to breed aren't there enough unwanted puppies in the world!!

why are you being so stupid if you don't know what to do at this stage then why are you letting your dogs mate just stay with the dogs until they separates's just in case they try to pull apart and hurt one another and then you will have a problem it could take 25Min's then pop to the vet and get an injection for the ***** because i don't think you need to let her have pups because if you don't know what you are doing then best left alone for you and your pet

Oh Goddd, the amount of stupid answers on here is soooo depressing.

It is part of the mating process for the dogs to get 'stuck' together end to end - it's called 'the tie'. DO NOT try to separate the dogs. Apart from potentially harming one or both of them, by the time they've got to this point it's often too late anyway. DO NOT throw cold water on them! And as for 'offering them favourite food' - that's just ridiculous. Someone doesn't know that sex is more important than food at certain times!!

If you don't know about this, what exactly do you think you're doing allowing your dogs to mate? Why aren't they both neutered???!

That's just nature taking it's course. Make sure they stay calm and don't try to force them apart by water or any other means. Both could be injured, just be patient they'll separate. Here in the US you can buy a doggy diaper at the pet store, that would keep her covered so he couldn't penetrate. Probably would work just as well for him too, it would keep him covered up. You have to remove it for her to go to the bathroom or it will get very messy.

Good Luck

Don't try to separate them. It is simply nature taking its course. If you do try to separate them, you could do serious harm to both dogs.

The male gets "stuck" because the penis is engorged with blood and swells inside of the female. Trying to separate them by throwing water or any other method could cause tearing in the female, male or both.

After the mating ritual is complete, the male will gradually relax and they will separate on their own.

Hope that helps you.

You don't, they will seperate themselves. They lock together whilst mating, and this can vary in time. If you did'nt want them to mate, then you are going to have to take your female to the vets for an injection

you as the owner should make sure this doesn't happen unless you want it too, keep them apart that will stop them....trying to separate them when they re stuck together can cause damage to the female dog.......

As Montana said. You don't. It's part of the process.

Sounds like this is your first time.....do your research, rather than blithely and irresponsibly breed.
