Both doctors and patients should be regarded "genderless". Having said that, I should add that this is a hot topic right now in KSA. The big Q: Should male doctors be allowed to treat females? and vice versa.
To answer ur Q: The majority of female docs are in Obgyn,Pediatrics, and Dentistry. What we need is more females in Opthalmology, ENT, Derma, and Surgery.

well I have been to both.. male and female.. I do prefer to have female gynocologists.. Its just proper for a women to view a womans privates.. Especially muslim women.
But having said all this... I know most of the specialists in the hospital I delivered my 2 children were male.. When you are in labor and about to give birth.. You dont care who delivers that baby, You just want it overwith as soon as possible.. haha!.. Both my babies were delivered by the male gynos on call that day.. Even though my primary doctor was supposed to be female. she was off both days that I delivered.. Oh well!

I'm slightly confused by your question, but in any case, physical or mental, I prefer women doctors. I'm a male, but women doctors listen and answer questions clearly and spend time with you. Male doctors always seem to be rush, rush, rush, don't really listen to you and have that "I'm superior to you" attitude. Maybe it's the mothering instinct that women have, but I'll take a female doctor any day over a male one.

As a woman, I prefer, no actually I insist on a female gynecologist. So do both of my daughters. I just prefer someone who has the same parts as me and women doctors seem more understanding.

I think the specialization in Gynecology and Obstetrician is better for female doctors who are practicing in Saudi Arabia.

first i hate going to doctors, if i have to go i would prefer a female doctor cause i wouldn't feel comfortable with a male doctor like when they try to hear your heartbeat or whatever, sometime they try to stick their hands inside your shirt...
it's more comfort with a female specialization doctor is when you went for a breast cancer check or when you are having a baby or whatever, i would expect to have a female doctor.
