Is that a good thing or a bad thing?

Some of you need apparently need a history lesson! And from me, a foreigner!

The Treaty of Tripoli, passed by the U.S. Senate in 1797, read in part: "The government of the United States is not in any sense founded on the Christian religion."

Some folks seem to have forgotten their history, or simply choose to ignore it!

I don't know what the US Government was like in 1797 so I can't answer completely. I do feel there is too much religion in today's government. It's a very bad thing.

I would assume, less, religious. My reasoning is that telephone, television, internet, and media, are all still settling as to what is possible and self expression. Also, to sustain the usual home and environment requires most of one's time so it is difficult to learn, be initiated, or have contact with any spirituality. I think if you just walk in some church and say hi, I want to be here, all one is going to get is crummy handshakes and negativity. Its a good thing, it is cultivating, total individuals.

More religious if you look at the Founding Fathers religious views, however, as a country we have become slightly less religious. I believe as a country we should be religious, but that religion should play as little a role in government as possible.
