I've done the calculation based upon your weight and age to get 55-65 gm/day. It could be more, depending upon your physical activity or your height, but probably not over 75 gm per day.

I'd say for you 30-45g would be plenty. Thats about 6-8g a meal if you eat 6 small meals/snacks throughout the day. If you are more active then the average person (involved in sports, fitness, job related) maybe 15% or so more a day. Your body will tell you how much it wants if you learn to listen to what foods you crave at certain times.

If you're lacto-ovo vegetarian and eating enough calories, protein won't be a problem. Eating meat gives you too much protein, you can get plenty from milk, cheese, yogurt, eggs, nuts, legumes, peanut butter, beans, soy, whole grains, and even fruits and vegetables. Any food you eat will have protein in it.

protein is in the foods u said u don't eat(I'm not sure about gelatin and red 40) but here are all the foods that have protein in them:
1. meat
2.fish
3.eggs
4.beans
5.tofu
6.peanut butter.

I got this from the Canadian food guide. If u wants to have protein then ur going to have to eat at least one of the things from the above list. or you could try protein shake ,i think it exists.

as for ur last question my food guide says the same thing. children can choose the lower number of servings, while male teenagers can go higher numbers.most people can choose servings some where in between. U will need the Canadian food guide to understand this but i will till u about the servings for proteins witch is classified as meat and alternatives. the serving for it is 2-3 servings ,if ur not active then u should not eat high servings of food, eat small protons.

each food group gives ur body some thing different that ur body needs thats why u need a bit from each food group for
example . milk products gives you calcicm. grain products gives u iron . meat gives u iron,so its like cerian foods that are not from the same food groups gives ur body the same or some of the same things but u still need a bit from each food group, and I'm pretty sure thats its only meats and alteratives that gives u protien but al lot of foods has calcim in it but milk has the most.

I know some grain if not all grain products has iron in it cause i read the rice box and the macaroni box, that is here.,but meat(might depened on the kind of meat cause the blocked ham like the kind u have to cut up has i think only 4% of iron in it)and may be beans is the best source of iron

The best person to ask about this is the dietitian.

P.s when u said lacto-ovo if u meant lactose intolerance, then u can have meat but u can't have milk products ,but u can get a subsutite like for example i think there's a certain type of milk that people with lactose intolerance can drink.

if I'm wrong then a dietitian is still the best person to talk to.

Good luck

If you're lacto ovo and eating ANYTHING with animal protein in it every day then you're consuming too much animal protein. Stop that! It's terrible for you.

If you're worried about plant-based protein, don't worry about it. Just eat a lot of veggies and grains and you're golden. You don't have to make it complicated by counting grams. If you really want to count grams then 45 should be about good for you.

JenasaurusX, vegetable proteins have been implicated in diseases too. Wheat protein is quite like milk protein in that they both contain significant quantities of opium-like and hormone-like chemicals that appear to be extremely psycho-active in a certain portion of the population. On top of that, both can cause serious auto-immune diseases like Celiac's disease, a chronic, lifelong degenerative disease.

Soy and corn proteins cause serious immunological disease to a small part of the population as well and these people have to avoid the slightest trace of such protein to maintain their health.

The 'safest' proteins are probably from potato and rice.

Whatever the # is, you can get it with plant food as long as you satisfy your hunger(say 1700 cal. a day)

PROTEIN has been vastly overrated in modern times of heavy foods. Don't take my word for it. Check out these sites. Fascinating info!!

It's more like each person is different in their needs by how active they are, as well as if they are still growing.
