No sexual contact of ANY kind? If that is the case, it is highly doubtful that you have herpes. Ask your doctor to test you. Herpes is spread by direct skin to skin contact. Unlike a flu virus that you can get through the air, herpes spreads by direct contact, that is, directly from the site of infection to the site of contact. For example, if you have a cold sore and kiss someone, you can transfer the virus to their mouth. Similarly, if you have active genital herpes and have vaginal or anal intercourse, you can give your partner genital herpes. Finally, if you have a cold sore and put your mouth on your partners genitals (oral sex), you can give your partner genital herpes.

I don't know if this helps or not but, unless no one has ever kissed you, and unless you've never had sex, it is possible that you've picked up a herpes virus. Oral herpes, usually caused by the herpes simplex virus type 1 , shows up as cold sores or fever blisters on the mouth. Even a casual peck on the lips from someone with a cold sore can give you the virus. That's why it's so common: As many as 50% to 80% of adults in the U.S. have oral herpes. Genital herpes, most often caused by the second type of herpes virus is less common, but plenty of people still have it.

Yes, it is possible because Herpes is a virus. The same type that causes genital herpes causes cold sores, so that person could have picked it up from a cold sore virus and then transferred it to their lower region. To get checked, simply go to the doctor. However, if it IS herpes, it will never go away. You won't always have the sores, but you will always have the virus and it will flare up every once in a while. And if you have it on your lips only, BE VERY CAREFUL not to transmit it to your other glands or to the glands of a partner (thru kissing and such).

You can get herpes from a toilet seat if a person who has it left that virus behind. If you don't have any outbreaks the the only way to know for sure is a blood test or an examination.

Genital herpes is usually transmitted only via intercourse. However, if you have cold sores on your mouth, also a strain of herpes virus, and you touch your mouth and then touch your genitals, you can transmit the oral herpes to your genitalia, where it then becomes genital herpes. So it is possible to give yourself genital herpes, albeit that is rare.
If you think you have some kind of infection, then you must see a doctor who will examine you and take cultures using a swab to see what the infection is.

You can get it by touching, rubbing... It doesn't have to be the actual act of sex. If you think you have it, go to the doctor. They are the only ones who can diagnose it. If you are worried about a sore, get it checked, but it may just be an ingrown hair or something of that nature.

You can only get it by trading bodily fluids with somebody who has it. Go to the doctor.
