Lacto(-ovo) vegetarian, 7 and a half years
Aged 12 I just couldn't stand the idea of eating meat any longer - it reached a point where my moral feelings surpassed my taste for eating meat. And most importantly, I haven't desired or craved meat since.
I decided not to eat fish/seafood because I see them as living beings; to the extent that I try not to eat eggs as they have the potential to be living beings. However, when in Europe I starve if I don't eat eggs, and every 6months or so I get a regular craving!
Just over a year ago I tried veganism and became the moodiest person in the world for 2 weeks - I got grumpy because I wasn't eating enough, nor of the food I liked!
Thankfully I like eating lots of fruit and veg (though I HATE mushrooms, lol!), I make sure I get at least 5-a-day. At the start I depended on cheese a lot, but now I'm older I'm more adventurous with my veggies! I try to follow the healthy-eating wheel too - because you need 5 portions of carbs a day too. I feel so unhealthy & sick whenever I have too much junk food in quick succession, so I must have a healthy diet (I never lack energy!).
See www.vegsoc.org for more help, I hope this brief 'essay' helps!

I have been a lacto ovo vegetarian for over 32 years. No seafood either. My kids (17 and 19) have never eaten meat and neither does my husband. I became one for ethical reasons when I was 14. Now I believe it is a much healthier diet . It is much easier to be one today than when I became one. There are so many more choises available in the stores. We do not eat a lot of eggs or cheese either. . I use mainly whole grains. Brown rice instead of white and tempeh is eaisier to come by now.

No vegetarian eats seafood since no vegetarian eats dead animals. Anyone who says they are vegetarian and does eat seafood is simply uninformed and not really a vegetarian at all.
Many vegetarians eat eggs and dairy but those who do usually go for local free range organic eggs and dairy.

vegetarians don't eat fish.
nor meat
nor poultry
nor slaughter by-products
vegans do all the above but also exclude any animal product including milk, egg, all dairy, honey. Vegans also exluding anial product such as leather, silk
If you are considering being a vegetarian then jsut eat a balnce of fruit, vegetables, nuts, cereals and dairy. You will find there is no need for supplements and you will be very healthy
Finally, you asked for reasons...I don't not want to support the pain, cruelty, torture adn death thaat the meat industry, and meat eaters, are responsible for.

how are you able to be a vegetarian and consume seafood? Vegetarians do not consume any meat/flesh nor animal fat. i think of if to procure rid of the seafood you are able to desire to be vegetarian. notwithstanding with all of the cruelty in all the egg and dairy industry plus with animals getting used for sources someplace else it makes greater experience to flow vegan. it rather is not consumer-friendly to surrender animals completely by way of fact we are taught in reality that animals are ours too use and abuse and do regardless of we'd like with them. as quickly as all of us understand that animals are actually not sources or for any use different than their own veganism will only fall into place because it clearly could desire to.

Yes, I'm a vegetarian. I don't eat dairy or eggs, nor do I eat seafood. I eat very little processed foods.
I don't eat those things because I don't think that they are good for my body. I feel better when I don't consume them.

Ethics.
No eggs, dairy or any animal products (including leather, glue in shoes, etc).
I love my diet, today for lunch I ate a huge salad with rocket, green pepers, garlic, carrot, smoked tofu, sunflower seeds, wheat germ, balsamic vinegar, olive oil, oregano, salt etc. Nothing came from an animal and now I am drinking ginger tea (homeade). You can love your food without meat and dairy.
Happy research
