I've been on Peta before and stopped eating Pork because I saw what they do to poor innocent animals. I want to become a complete vegetarian. Where do I start?

Here are tips:
1. Take your time - my journey from meat eater took about a year.
2. Start out using some basic substitutes for the meat you are used to in foods where you won't even notice - ground meat replacements are available in the frozen food sections.
3. Leave meat off things that don't need it - pizza, salad, spag, etc.
4. Get some good cookbooks when you are ready to branch into more interesting foods - Moosewood books and New Farm Vegetarian are two of my favorites.
5. If you are worried about what to eat check out the book "Diet for a New America" it will cover many of the health questions.
A good start is to pick one or two nights a week as "veggie" night. Then work your way from there stopping wherever you feel most comfortable which might be 2 nights a week or 7 nights a week up to you.

So turning veggie isn't such a big drama as everyone makes out, even nowadays for some reason, when it's so easy. If you're not going to eat (certain) meat anyway because you have moral objections, it's best to find a substitute.
1) Check out www.vegsoc.org as they have a healthy-eating wheel so you can follow a balanced diet - most people who turn veggie never bothered to eat a balanced diet beforehand, lol! So that's a bonus!
2) Try out veggie alternatives - buy a veggie recipe book, check out beanburgers etc and/or Quorn in your local supermarket's frozen section. Even pick up some of the more 'exotic' veg that you may not have had before!
3) Create meals with whatever works best for you - personally, I look to get a certain number of portions of veg/carbs/dairy etc in my meals, thinking about what I will be able to eat later on to make up the remaining number needed so I "pick 'n' mix" rather than creating fancy veggie recipes. Also, as I live with my family, it is easier to eat whatever they have minus the meat, but adding a piece of Quorn instead.
4) It may seem hard at first, but stick at it for a little while (some people take longer to convert than others - allow yourself the odd favourite 'meat treat' to help to say goodbye to the world of meat gradually). Then if you find that you're eating with no problems a complete veggie lifestyle but still crave meat then it's not for you - yet.

That's great you're interested in going veg! You could start by going to your local grocery and health food stores and buying some meatless meats.. some are better than others, so try different brands to figure out which ones you like the most. Here's a list of good products: http://www.vegcooking.com/guide-favs.asp . Then, replace the meat in your favorite recipes with the vegetarian meats.

Some people transition to vegetarianism gradually and some do it "cold turkey" - do whatever feels right for you.

well get a veg starter kit from the site. it's free. and that's what started me off. then, next time you go shopping, go straight to the fesh produce section. you should be able to find the soy and tofu foods. i suggest boca. they have amazing meat replacments. make sure you still get your vitamins. if you live in a larger stae, like california, try looking for an organic food store, they tend to have veg foods. also, try sites like goVEG.com and vegtv.com. hope this helped a bit. and good luck. it's good that you've decided to turn to a cruelty free and healthy life style. oh, and don't let anyone talk you out of it! it's your choice! :].

u start by getting those veggie burgers...they taste good...then u move on to the rubbery tofu..which is totally gross! but u try different kinds...and different ways of cooking..and eventually ull find a way where it tastes good..or u just get used to it or somethin..
and u take it from there! u stop eating meat..and u enjoy being healthy!
P.S make sure u get lots of protien..like tofu or protien bars or wutever..cuz when i first turned vegetarian i was hungry ALL the time cuz i didnt get much protien!

I always have to point out the other side of the coin.
You blather about the "poor innocent animals". But consider this, those animals would never even have been born if not for the meat industry. They are born and raised expressly to be food. Are they innocent, or are they fulfilling their destiny? Now, I'm not supporting the torture of animals, but I'm not going to believe these animals are innocent, natural animals. they are a food product, right from the moment they are born.

Dangerous if you don't know what you are doing. Also, you are doing it for the wrong reasons. Have you seen what other animals do to each other when killing them to eat? The pigs in captivity have it well. Out there, they would be attacked by a pack of hungry something or others and ripped to shreds until they died.
The animals are there for us to eat.
