There are many good reasons to become a vegetarian. The best would be for your health (as many animals are pumped with hormones and not taken care of properly). However, simply foregoing meat isn't the meaning of vegetarianism. Ideally it means becoming a "good cook"! I personally think certain fish should still be consumed for health benefits. The second best reason would be ecological. I recommend "Diet for a New America" by John Robbins if you'd really like to know more, a lot more.

There are health, environmental, and ethical reasons for being vegetarian. I think the best reason is that every time you sit down to eat, you can make a choice to support compassion over cruelty. You don't have to join a demonstration or write to a politician.. your food choices alone can have a positive impact.

hi! most of us turn vegetarian either for religious beliefs, abt caring for the environment or health reasons.
my reason was that i was eating too much meat and my cholesterol was hitting the roof and so was my weight. i switched to lean cuts, then totally stopped and i'm now almost fully vegetarian except for milk and the occassional eggs and seafood. my weight's gone from 120kgs to 70kgs, my cholesterol's normal and my blood pressure's fine.
whatever your reason for becomming a vegetarian, i'm sure it will be the best reason!

I think the only good reason to be a vegetarian is that you don't want to incur the energy loss to the environment for meat animal husbandry.
A second reason, if you are also including fish in your forbidden list, is that there are many endangered fish species used for human food.
Otherwise, there is no good reason to be a vegetarian. It is bad for humans nutritionally, as vegetable substitutions for the meat necessary to support our omnivore diet are never complete. You will suffer difficulty finding appropriate foods, pay more for food overall, and inconvenience any number of hosts attempting to satisfy your requirements to achieve nutritional completion or even just satiety.
Good luck, whatever you decide!

your OWN reason is the best reason to be vegetarian - whether it be for health, environmental, ethical, or some other reason! if it's to piss your parents off, that can be a good reason too! :)

Only you can decide that for yourself but if you do it the right way you end up healthier than those who eat meant your body does not ingest all the toxins and things they put in the grass to make the animals grow quicker.

Having watched the painful way animals die and all the injections we pump into them to make them fatter...so very unnatural!
