I must resist the urge to laugh... bad karma and all that...
But I bet his doctor is going to recommend he try a vegetarian diet when he's feeling better...!

Despite popular belief, it is very possible to live without consuming meat. While we are omnivorous, we don't necessarily have to eat meat. I have been a vegetarian for nearly 3 nears now (started at 16) and I am in the best shape of my life. Vegetarianism made me reevaluate my life choices. I began eating healthier and many issues resolved themselves. As a child I was a bubble boy. I had asthma, was lactose intolerant, had severe allergies that required 6 allergy shots per week, and could essentially not survive out in the world. This lasted much through my teen years. After changing my diet, I found that I had more energy to do things. I began exercising slowly, which strengthened my heart and lungs. Now I don't even need an inhaler. I switched to soy milk and for some strange reason, i can now consume foods that contain dairy; though I generally don't. The change to a healthy diet strengthened my immune system as did the ability to exercise. Now I don't need allergy shots AND I rarely get sick. Vegetarianism can be quite a wonderful thing when done correctly. It's all about knowing what to do. :D

I love my meat and taters. The thing is, I eat small portions and I don't eat fast food... at all. I don't have a gallbladder so I can't easily digest a greasy meal or a large one. I eat lean steak about the size of my fist and if I eat potatoes, I eat them mashed with very little butter and a dash of salt and pepper. Chances are, the mechanic's death was due to a horrible diet filled with burgers and fries. It's ok to be a vegan and it's ok to eat meat. You just have to be careful how much you eat and how it's prepared. I exercise six days a week and I'm in good shape. My blood pressure is low, my blood is always good for donation and I don't have any serious health issues. I consider my diet very healthy.

this is coming from a vegetarian. Whats the point of your question? Are you trying to force other people to see it your way? I like being a vegetarian, but that doesn't mean that everyone must choose the same lifestyle. You could have just told this guy that you liked salads and called it a day.
And I'm sure that his heart attack wasn't primarily cause by eating meat. Are you really that ignorant? There are plenty of people that eat meat and are healthy, just like there are plenty of vegetarians that eat NO meat and are healthy.

I know meat and tater eaters that don't have heart attacks, so what's your point?
Enlighten me as to how asking someone if what they are eating is all they are eating, and stating that they couldn't live without their chosen diet is being rude and downing another person's dietary choice? If anyone is rude and has it coming to them is the frackin' question asker(and some of the answerers) by taking delight in the guys bad health, which may or may not have been connected to his dietary choices.

I think the Bible says God put all animals on this Earth for human to eat. Therefore, I'm gonna get my eat on while the eatin' is good.
LOL
OK, just kidding (though the Bible does say that).
I wouldn't blame his heart attack entirely on meat & taters, though I'm sure it had an influence on it. He was probably eating "bad" meats: fried chicken, ribs, fatty beef, burgers, etc. vs. broiled/grilled/baked skinless chicken, fish, lean beef, etc.
I admire your will power to be vegan!

I am a carnivore I am made to eat meat. If he died, it is because he did not get enough exercise or he did not get a balanced diet. When wolves kill a prey the stomach is the most valued take. Only the alpha males get it. That's because it contains the mixture of grains and nutrients that are necessary for health. Vegans say they do not kill only because they can not hear the scream of the plant they rip from the ground. All life is precious. We must respect the life we take to sustain our own. No one can feel the pain of those that feed us. We do not hear the screams of the slaughter house nor the screams of plant life being ripped from the ground. The harvest of food can be cruel in both worlds. Even though humans can not hear the screams of the plants does not mean they do not exist.

You have to be a pretty sick individual when you get delight out of someone having a heart attack. You might live a bit longer being a vegan but you will burn for all eternity because you soul is more rotten than any piece of meat.
