Why on earth would you NOT WANT to be upfront & honest about having herpes, it is not a death sentence but cold sores in the genital area.
Can you imagine some years into marriage and suddenly partner gets it ,what confusion and doubt etc that would create? ♥

Let me start by saying that I have herpes and I got it from someone that didn't have enough nerve to tell me. As for relationships I have been in three long term relationships since then and all of them know about it and because of us being open with each other we have managed not to continue spreading the disease. I have had 2 children since then and not a problem at all. However in some states its illegal to not tell your partner. So my advise is be honest if you have a partner that true cares for you then they will understand.

Why don't you just tell him? or her? It would take a lot of burden if you tell him or her. And I think that your partner may also have herpes because you've been having sex for a long time, there is a possibility that it has already been transmitted and you don't know about it, or may not. Just go to the doctor and let them explain to him about that or tell your partner directly. Your partner may not like the idea of keeping secrets from him, especially your're getting married soon. If you're partner loves you he'll/ she'll understand why you had to keep it from him. I'll know your partner will understand..he will not propose or say yes if he/she doesn't love you.

I would really consider having you and your partner sit down and talk to a doctor. This way there is no misdirection and all questions can be asked confidentially and out in the open. I have a friend who married someone with Hep C and they live a happy and safe life style and had two kids together. Hope this helps. Also, a website I though might help.

Odds are they will find out. Most people who catch the disease got it from someone that didn't have any sign of an outbreak. It can also be passed when using condoms. If you are in a serious relationship with someone, there is no way to hide it. Not to mention the fact that it is wrong to do so. They will either catch it and know you gave it to them or they will see signs of the disease in you. You can't just hide out everytime you have an outbreak. You need to tell this person. If they love you, they will understand. If not, it wasn't meant to be. You should not want to knowingly spread the disease to someone you love. Everyone should be informed and then they can make their own decision.

I am absolutely terrified and I feel so alone. I just found out last week that I tested positive for hsv1 and 2. I have been with the same man for the past 10 years and within the last year found out that he has cheated on me with numerous women. I am so scared that I can give it to my children by kissing them and them eating with me...I feel like my whole life has changed. And even though the nurses, my doctor, and websites say that a lot of people have it I still feel like I am by myself. My self esteem has dropped and I feel like I have been used up. But now, My life is very happy.

Why would you not want them to know? If it is a committed relationship than they should understand. Unless you got it because you cheated on them?! Then tell her and take your lumps! Don't take a chance with someone you care about.

you need to tell the person if you have herpes. It can be contagious even when you're not having an outbreak.
