I think that I may have the herpes type 2 virus. For the second time in three months I noticed a bump on my genital that was very painful when I wore close fitting jeans. I stopped having sex altogether because I do not want to affect anyone. I went to a gynocologist, but she told me that she couldn't see anything and for me to come back if I get another one. I am really frustrated and I need to know now! Isn't there a blood test that can be performed to find herpes?

Well...it could be an ingrown hair, sure. I don't want to scare you but that is what I though mine was at first. Since I don't have enough information, nor am I a Dr. I would at least go to your regular dr. and get tested for HSV. They can do a blood test for both type 1 and 2, even if you dont' have sores present. If you do have the bump come back, go right away and you can get it swab'd from your Dr. and they can get an even better test. In the mean time, I would abstane from sex until you do know for sure. If you do have herpes, and have no symptoms you can still pass it on via viral shedding. The virus remains in cells in the body after the first infection in a latent or dormant form. At some point this latency ends and the virus begins to multiply becoming transmittable. This shedding may or may not be accompanied by symptoms of a rash. GOOD LUCK. I hope it's just razor burn, but it's better to check it out farther.

Yes... They can take a test, send it to a lab, and call you back with the results. Signs of Herpes include body aches, headaches, slight fever, discomfort, and possibly a UTI (urinary tract infection). If you aren't really in pain or it doesn't get worse, I wouldn't worry about it, but you might want to get checked out just incase for the safety of your intimate partners. However, 50% of the people aware of having Herpes suffer from emmotional damage. You don't have to get dozens of blisters for it to be Herpes or even one. However, she might be right about the hair. When talking about Herpes advice take it from someone who has it, like me.

Just Pray About It.

You may have HPV, which is genital warts. But your Dr. should have done a blood test to make sure. Good luck, I hope its not any of those things, and just an ingrown hair.

There is a blood test available for you... I would get a second opinion by an OBGYN.

oh jeez, your probably just have a bartholin's gland abcess if it's on your labia, or ingrown hair if it's on the outside.... If it were herpes you'd have like dozens of little blisters, and yes I do believe it shows up on a blood test.
