At time I was eating meat the only excuse I made for myself was that-that piece of meat I'm eating right now is already dead animal so it can't be helped anymore, but I'd never kill any animal for food.
And actually only reason why I ate it at all was that parents said I can't survive without eating meat, that I need that, but then I started to look for more info and found out that actually meat is not mend for us people to eat and that those who don't eat meat are actually even healthier then those who eat.
The last straw was when I finally pay attention to meat that I eat..skin, skeleton, flesh..I thought-yuck I'll never eat that again. That's animal corpse, that's not food!
So, it took for me one day to become vegetarian after my desicion, at first day after my sudden idea to become vegetarian I fail because I ate sandwich with sausage what dad made because I haven't told nobody at that moment yet and I was little bit afraid of parent reaction and so, but anyway that was last time I eat meat, i just said that I won't eat meat anymore and that's it, gosh how many times they called me fool and tried to force me to eat meat, but I couldn't get that in myself anymore and after some time they just give up and somehow accustom theirselves with fact I'm vegetarian,
only grandma always tease me with- don't you want these tasty meatballs I just made? and else like this. But mainly there's no problem.
And what about sea food, if you mean fish, crabs etc etc if I were you and would want to turn vegetarian I wouldnt (and I 'm not)call that seafood anymore, that's live creatures not food!!!

I started gradually...and once I saw a video of animals being killed in a slaughterhouse...I completely gave up meat like that. It wasn't hard because I thought, and still think, that if I bit into a piece of meat, that I would throw up. Besides, I can't imagine myself eating meat again, it was once a living thing. And no, I hate seafood anyways, so it wasn't hard to give up seafood either. :-D I've been vegetarian for almost a year.

Here are tips:
1. Take your time - my journey from meat eater took about a year.
2. Start out using some basic substitutes for the meat you are used to in foods where you won't even notice - ground meat replacements are available in the frozen food sections.
3. Leave meat off things that don't need it - pizza, salad, spag, etc.
4. Get some good cookbooks when you are ready to branch into more interesting foods - Moosewood books and New Farm Vegetarian are two of my favorites.
5. If you are worried about what to eat check out the book "Diet for a New America" it will cover many of the health questions.

Because I had my mind set on being a vegetarian it wasn't hard at all to give up meat. I did it all at once and never did the seafood thing (I don't believe your a true vegetarian if your still eating fish, that's my opinion).

I stopped eating red meat for a while before I even considered going vegetarian. When I did eventually make the change, it was not that difficult for me. While it is important to eat right , I don't look at food as a luxury, or as something I look forward to all the time. Of course it is nice to have a delicious meal every so often, it does not mean I have to have anything I want anytime I want it. Looking at it this way made it easy for me to switch to vegetarianism. Plus, those times when I do have a great meal, it is all the more delicious since I don't do it very often.

When I watched the slaughterhouse videos, I decided that night that I was a vegetarian. I used to be a BIG chicken eater; I'm talking like every meal (except breakfast). I ate red meat sometimes, and seafood rarely because I never really cared for it. I gave it up cold turkey (no pun intended).
Over the next few weeks after that I decided to be vegan.

When I went vegetarian I first cut red meat out of my diet. I ate chicken. Then I got rid of chicken and continued eating seafood for about a month.
The first month was the hardest but it got easier after that.
Good luck!!!

I promised to stop eating meat all together on the first day of school, last year. I had cravings for a while, but the longer you go without meat, the more disgusting it seems.
