My daughter age 8 gets this same thing. I have mentioned it to her pediatrician twice and she assures me it is nothing to worry about as long as it isn't racing so fast you can no longer count the individual beats. I trust her, but admit it is sort of scary. If you find out something different add it to your comments, (I promised my husband not to accept emails on this thing)I would really appreciate it.

you should seek the advice of a cardiologist. Does it do this after you have done something strenuous? If so , that is normal and just your Heart pumping blood through all the vessels. But if this happens for no apparent reason, than it could be your heart is having difficulty pumping blood through the vessels and arteries. You could have blockage. When was the last time you had blood work done? When was the last time you saw a Doctor. If it has been a while you need to make an appointment ASAP. Tell this to your physician. You need to have your blood pressure checked etc. Perhaps a stress test to see if there is any damage. He may order a angiogram to determine if there is any clogged arteries or heart valves. Good Luck and God Bless

Myself being someone who works in the health care field, I would say to get to a Doctor asap. Your heart should beat the same all the time, faster with physical activity and so on. If you are just sitting and you start having your heart speed up then slow down that's not a good thing. I can't tell you what's wrong, but something must be. Go get checked out, please! Good luck!

If it beats so fast after exercise, it's normal. If not, you may have atrial fibrillation, a serious heart defect that can lead to strokes, heart attacks, and death. You should get an EKG (an electrocardiogram measuring the heartbeat) right away.

I was going to answer some "you're in love! be happy!" thing until I noticed that this Q was under heart diseases. Looks like you're having palpitations which is NOT normal. Since it's not normal and it's the heart we're talking about, please do see a doctor who can diagnose what's wrong with you (if there is) before it worses.

Mine was doing the same thing and it was anxiety and they call it "panic attacks", I got on paxil and was fine and it never happened again, talk about relieved, I would think I was going to die when mine did that, but ask your physician about it! Hope this helps!

Could be from a lot of things, like anxiety, caffeen, drugs, booze, sleep shortages, etc. Nothing to panic about, unless you are older and have high blood pressure.

Sounds as if you maybe having anxiety issues. You may not even realize it per se.....but your body is reacting on some level. Try to take notice as to what is going on around you when this occurs.
