The way I read it is: If you choose to grin, at a time when you would have been grouchy, next time it will be easier to grin. It might also mean: if you choose to grin, instead of being a grouch, you will probably cause someone else to grin...causing 2 grins.

i think it just means to channel ur negative emotions into something positive
for example, if there was a yin-yang, you would have cleared out the dark aspect in favor of two light sides
