Hoisin sauce is just that - hoisin sauce. It is like a Chinese (actually it is Cantonese) ketchup and indeed it is one of the ingredients used bor Cantonese barbecued pork.

Yummy! I love hosin sauce! It is the asian version of BBQ sauce...very sweet! It is great to dip Potstickers in!
