I am tired of buying ice 2x a day but my cooler won't stay cold if I don't. I want to buy a new cooler. Does anyone have a cooler that works REALLY well that they can recommend?

if you have a deep freezer you can put the cooler in there before you go camping with any ice you want. this will make it last a lot longer.

Coleman is my first pick in coolers. You can do some things to make ice last longer. pre chill all items before putting in cooler use block ice and cover the cooler with a blanket. also don't dump the cold water from the cooler it keeps warm air from getting in.

Couple things...

1. Coleman makes different coolers that are guaranteed for different hours. They usually work pretty good.

2. Use more than one ice chest. Have one for drinks, one for meats, and one for lunch meat, mustard, mayo, etc..

The idea is to keep the items that you use rarely together (this way you are only opening the cooler a few times) and to keep the items you use more often together.

3. Keep the cooler(s) in as cool of a place as possible.

Igloo Ice Cube Max Cold

I have one of these and it works fantastic. I typically put a frozen gallon jug in there and then pack it up. Dump on some ice cubes and go camping. It may not last 5 days in 90 degree heat, but I've had the ice last that 4 days in 80 degree heat.

Make sure it has a locking lid and water drain. Igloo & Coleman and the two best. I have a 100 qt Igloo that acts like my fridge. It huge. They also make a 120qt, and 150 qt. wheeled. They're expensive but well, well worth it.

Also, instead of using ice cubes, freeze water in milk jugs or tupperware. They last longer and it'll stay colder longer.
