I'm single and also turning 30 this year. Hey, maybe you're my friend and this party is for me! ha! just kidding... ;)
If she's anything like me, and dreads turning 30, the last thing I want is to have people rubbing my new age-bracket in my face. Who wants to be reminded of how old they are getting when they're still single? So forego any "Over-the-Hill" type of decorations, or anything referring to "Old Maid" (I absolutely HATE that term!!!) Here are some parties that she may like:
-Honestly, I think a dinner party with her closest friends would be the best. Make reservations at her favorite restaurant and make a fun night of it. Take pictures!
-If she hates the thought of turning 30, do a "Happy 1st Anniversary of turning 29" party. Have 29 pink candles and 1 white candle decorating a white-frosted cake.
-Decorate the party like the 70's since that was the year she was born and have everyone wear 70's attire and play 70's music. Have 70's style posters decorating the room and maybe a history board of pictures of her growing through the years.
-Or if she's a fan of the 80's, throw an 80's style party, same idea as the 70's version...
-Or perhaps if she's a movie buff, have a party of "Big Movie Hits of the Last Three Decades". Have everyone dress up as their favorite movie character over the last 30 years.
-Maybe have people bring inexpensive gifts in thirty's. Thirty candy bars, thirty birthday cards about turning 30, a mixed CD with 30 songs on it, etc. Let your guests be the creative ones too.
-Murder mystery parties are awesome.
-Perhaps if you and her close friends can afford it, go on a road trip somewhere and celebrate. Vegas, Atlantic City, etc.
I don't suggest strippers or strip clubs. To me, that's fun in your early 20's. Turning 30 is a big step and the party shouldn't be reduced to something silly, unless she would like that...? *shrug*
***The most important part: Whatever you decide to do, invite men and women. If any of your guests have any potentional, great single men, bring them along! The more the single men, the merrier, right? ;)
Good luck! I'm sure she (and everyone else) will have a blast! And how thoughtful of you to do this for her! :)

How fun! Of course think of what she likes and develop a theme or place based on that ie: some of my friends likes'...80's music, jimmy buffet, anything french, sushi, spa pamering, hip hop music. Maybe put together a photo album of her with friends, trips you've taken, matchbooks from favorite restaurants, etc. If she has a favorite charity, ask that the invitees make a small (min 5 or 10 dollars) donation in her name. Also, a book that was invaluable to me while single is "The Circle" by Laura Day. I am convinced it had something to do with finding my future husband who I'm marrying next month.
Some themes I've run with are Champagne PArty, Tapas and Sangria parties, tropical parties with grass skirts, ley's, etc.
You could also rent a limo and stage your very own pub crawl visiting all her favorite places for a cocktail.

We just threw an amazing beach party... had a kiddie pool as a giant cooler, a cutout that you stick your faces through for photo ops (party world $30!), little fish plates, sushi...it was great. Everyone dressed up and we had a prize for the best beach wear. Some guy had on a full scuba outfit! It was a great night and perfect for this time of year.
Invite SINGLES and Couples. I'm around the same age...it shouldn't matter if she's single or in a relationship. Just mingle...and maybe limbo too!

Hello, no longer certain of your funds or whether or not or no longer this may increasingly paintings together with your peers...however I needed to throw it in the market. I simply received again from my thirtieth birthday occasion in Vegas. My spouse and I went with 2 different couples, for two nights, and it was once quality. You relatively do not need to plan some thing if you are in Vegas, simply being there's amusing, and a pair of-6 persons is a small ample institution to ordinarilly do something you desire there, with out stressful approximately making big plans. I'm having a occasion whilst I get again with all of my different peers who were not equipped to move because of youngsters, different commitments, and many others. Hope you've a well birthday.

How about a "Who's Your Date" party. Have all the guests bring a single guy as their "entry". Each "entry" will fill out a little info card with favorite likes, dislikes, quotes etc. Make them off the wall and NOT obvious stuff.
Your friend has to go around the room and mingle with each entry and figure out who's info matches each card.
Bonus points if she can figure out who brought the guest and/ or she can pick a winner for the night or however you want to adjust it.
Worse case scenario she gets to meet a whole bunch of new guys and mingle with them all night...What was the bad part about that again??/

well, you mentioned she's single TWICE so my vote is have a dinner party just for her and hire only male escorts to serve you ladies. i'm sure she'll get a kick out of it. or not.
