Lately my hearts been going katonk, its real fast and quick and its over It used to happen once in a blue moon but lately it happens more often when i am lying at rest or standing at my work station at rest as well There's no pain involved and its not a flutter
Is it my heart murmur worsening or perhaps an infection as 6 mths ago during dental work I took the amoxicillin 4 hrs before cleaning instead of 1 hour. Or is it just too much caffeine.

If your heart murmur has been worsening or you have had changes as you described, you should consult your physician. They may want to do a echocardiogram or a 24-48 hour holter monitor to monitor things. The dental work and Amoxicillin from 6 months ago is not the problem. If you drink a lot of caffeine, you should cut down or stop. Too much caffeine causes increased heart rate which can cause arrthythmias, etc., but you could have a more serious problem going on as I did, but it may also be fine. To be sure, visit your physician as soon as you can, that is the only way you will know for sure.

Best wishes.

Given you have a valve problem, it's probably a good question to ask your cardiologist.

I go katonk all the time but I am a real cardiac basket case. There see - just had a katonk. My doc doesn't pay much attention to katonks but flutters are a different matter - it's like hard over.

Give him a buzz - cannot hurt.

Revision: Told my cardiologist today about triple katonks and now I have to do a halter monitor, echo and a $700 blood test. Someday I will learn to keep my mouth shut! kidding.

Go ask your doctor.

Also, the 3 hr difference on the amoxicillin 6 mo ago will not make a difference. And caffeine can cause your heart to race.

Any question related to your heart would best be answered by your physician. If you have some fears, you should call your doctor. S/he may be able to allay your fears over the phone. Or, s/he may be able to offer you a quick visit and testing if it is indicated. The symptoms you describe could certainly be caused by too much caffeine. But, really why not call your doc?

Amoxicillin didn't have any impact on your heart. It's the caffeine that's doing the job on your heart or cigarette if you smoke or alcohol even in minor doses, are the top mediators of such problem/s.
Kindly change your life style and control the Factors of heart diseases e.g. obesity, nice sleep, walk more (physical), and avoid risk factors, red meat, fried eggs and above factors in para one.
Best of luck.

You should have an echo to check your mitral valve and also a 24hr monitor because of the murmur. Most are just functional, but if it is related to the mitral valve, it could be causing the arrhythmias. See your doctor.
