Don't worry about it, most hospitals will even help you file for assistance should he indeed be hospitalized. The main thing is that he get taken care of. My father at the age of 54 had a myocardial infarction, (massive heart attack) and did not have insurance, hospital filed for him with social services. One's health is far more important than a credit rating anyhow, don't worry about how he'll pay, just get him taken care of. Good luck to you.

Tell the admitting person that he's a low income person with no insurance and they'll either:
1. Transfer him to a county facility if necessary if he's super sick
2. Simply bill him and he can make payment arrangements later.
(P.S.) When he talks to billing, tell him to try to bargain with them - such as if bill is $1000, will they take $200 and write the rest off.

First they will give him some counselling and try to see if he qualifies for medicaid. If not they will set up a payment plan. They cannot refuse treatment if it is an emergency.

You should take him to the County Hospital. They have to treat him there for free... Payment plan??? For like 100 years?? I don't think he wants that...

they will send you a bill in the mail a couple weeks later and then if he can not afford to pay it they can set up differnet plans to pay over a period of time. some hospitals will even just write it off and the bill will never go on his credit if he can not ever pay it.

Most probably. Hospital emergency rooms can not deny care based on financial ability to pay.

depends, on the hospital, on his age, on a number of other things. They cannot however refuse to treat him based on ability to pay, that is against the law.

Most likely they will, hospitals will work with you if you don't have insurance.
