if you want to make home made tortillas, you need to buy "masa" corn mixture to make the tortillas, just to go to any store that has Mexican stuff, then you need a tortilla press, this can also be purchased there, press them and then cook them on a grill, then you cut them in triangles and fry them in any oil you would like, and salt them.
but if you want the easy way out, just buy a bag of corn tortillas, white or yellow will work, and fry them up till they are medium dark, then salt them. have fun cooking!!!!

I'm not sure how you want to cook them, Microwave is quick if you are cooking for 1 or 2 or just want a small snack, but baking in the oven is good for cooking in bulk, like for a weeks worth of snacking!

Microwave 'Baked' Tortilla Chip Recipe
12 corn tortillas
Vegetable oil for brushing or misting
Salt, preferably kosher or sea salt
Lay the tortillas out on a cutting board, lightly spray, brush or mist both sides with oil, then cut each tortilla into 6 wedges. Lay the wedges out in a single layer on the bottom of the microwave oven. Microwave on high for 1 1/2 minutes. Turn the tortilla wedges over and microwave for another 1 1/2 minutes. Continue turning and microwaving at 1 1/2-minute intervals, moving the wedges around if some seem to be browning more than others, until they are crisp - remember, as they cool, they'll crisp even more. Total microwaving time is likely to be 5-7 minutes. Immediately toss the chips with salt and serve. Makes 72 chips.

Baked Tortilla Chip Recipe
12 6-inch corn tortillas
1 Tbsp. canola oil
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. chili powder (optional)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cut each tortilla into 8 wedges. Spread out in a single layer on cookie sheets. Brush with oil. Sprinkle with salt and chili powder. Bake 12-15 minutes, rotating the cookie sheets halfway through. Chips will be lightly brown when done.

The easiest way IS to buy a bag of tortillas, either flour or corn. Cut them in wedges like a pizza. Heat up some oil to about 375F, drop some in, fry until crisp (it doesn't take too long). Then pull them out, drain them on paper towels and season immediately so the seasoning will stick.

The harder version involves more time with making your own tortillas for frying.

Buy corn tortillas, cut them into small pieces, and fry them in the oil of your choice, until lightly browned. Let them cool on a wire rack (not paper towel--That will make them soggy) with paper towel underneath to soak up the excess grease. If you want them salted, sprinkle on a little while they are still warm. You could also sprinkle a little cinnamon and sugar on them to make them sweet!

Flour tortillas work too, but give you a different texture (much like those taco salad bowls). Fry them the same way, until golden brown.

Have fun! Sounds yummy!

Just cut up soft tortilla shells into pieces. Put in your Fry Daddy with clean peanut oil. Salt immediately.
