a "perfect" environmentally friendly grocery store will be a bunch of farmers selling vegetables out of their horse-drawn wagons.

You'll go from cart to cart loading up your canvas bags.

Watch out for the "road apples"

Fantastic yes. I will step out of my front door with my part risen bread dough and climb into a canoe. I will paddle up a channel that is overhanging with branches laden with fruit and nuts. I will gather my fresh vegetables for lunch from the side of the banks. Taking time to admire the plants and wildlife. All without leaving the canoe.

When I reach the center pond, I will hop off onto the island, collect fresh chicken, duck and goose eggs. Perhaps if we are having guests for lunch I will take a chicken or goose, or drop a line and catch a fish or two.

Then I will canoe up the next channel where I stop off to eat a handful of the fresh berries I collect before breakfast and drink fresh cool water from the well. I will get back into my canoe and paddle off to the top pond where there is an outside kitchen. I will prepare breakfast and bake the bread in the pizza oven.

My family and friends will then wander up the field and join me for breakfast in the world's most environmentally friendly grocery store. Am I mad? possibly, is this just dreaming? Maybe but we are actively working towards it.

We are growing our own food and meat.

Yes, full of fruits and vegetables from all around. But most of the other aisles would look close to the same as a grocery store,it's on the label that what counts. I imagine it wouldn't be very busy because most people are not aware of all of the toxic chemicals we use in our home or put in our body every day. Luckily we can order from the internet for now and the products come right to our door! Jennifer

Nice question!

I will sell vegetables and fruits produced from natural fertilizers (forgive me, animal waste) in the hollow parts of a palm tree, driven by horses. It will be lit by the day light though a transparent layer so it can also keep rain off.

Actually, the perfect (zero pollution) situation would be for you to grow your own food and hunt your own meat (with a spear). Just how close to zero impact do you want to get?
