Is eating gelatin non-vegetarian? Or is it only vegans that don't eat gelatin?

That depends on how strict of a vegetarian you are. The most basic form of vegetarianism is simply no meat, other animal by-products are used. Vegans don't, however.

I personally will not eat it, and I'm not a vegan (obviously I'm a veg though). So it's mostly a personal choice.

I think gelatin is very close to meat in that you must kill an animal for it, so that's my reasoning for not eating it. Same goes for stock/broth.

Oh, how ignorance is bliss. I used to love gelatin candies until I found out what they are made of. Boiling the left over parts of dead animals (tendons, ligaments and so on) and then eating it is certainly not vegetarian friendly.

Needless to say, I stopped eating gelatin.

Gelatin is not a vegetarian substance, even if it has been processed so that it doesn't look like animal parts. It seems macabre that it is used to make fruit-flavored desserts which seem so innocent. I don't eat it, but I have known other vegetarians who ate it before they knew what it was made from.

Gelatin is clearly a product of animal origin, this gelatinous extract is obtained by boiling animal parts like bones ,skin & tendons etc ,these are parts rich in collagen & yeild up this substance into the liquid in which it boiled .It is therefore amply clear why gelatin is not consumed by vegetarians, who opt for thickeners of vegetable source like agar agar. The reasons why muslims also avoid gelatin is both beacuse they are unsure of the animals used & also the mode of slaughter.

I do not eat gelatin but I am not a vegan.
I won't eat gelatin because it has animal parts in it.

Vegetarians (the current definition, which is pretty watered-down) do not eat animal flesh of any kind, animal broths, gelatin, lard, rennet, or carmine.
