I'm an Environmental Scientist. The pay is okay - around $35-40k for an entry level job.
I research sites to determine if they have the potential for being contaminated and write a report containing my findings. Some are old military sites, some are just for private companies trying to cover their asses in terms of liability for cleanup if a gasoline leak or other contamination is found on a property they purchase. I've also done a little bit of the cleanup process - taking soil samples to directly measure contamination levels.
I found the job in Sacramento, CA. There are a good number of environmental jobs in the area. Feel free to go into my profile and send me an email if you'd like further information.

I have a self created green Job! I was hired to pesticide the heck out of several retail Garden Shops, except when I inspected the sites I realized a few things First, there were too many children and pets walking about for pesticide residue, second the day I saw an old woman pick up an herb plant and taste it...really....take a bite right from the counter I realized Between innocence and stupidity, I could not morally spray pesticides, so I started changing the deadly stuff to less harmful chemicals, or not chemicals at all, and using beneficial insects. I use only environmentally friendly spray stuff and lots of beneficial insects. The ONLY problem it causes is that the Pesticide Bureau in my state keeps investigating and auditing me because I think my spray numbers for nine locations are so low, that it looks like I am lying somehow! Oh yeah, I lecture with local Universities on the use of beneficial insects instead of pesticides, I am publicly recognized at most of the greenhouse lectures and trade shows I go to. BUT, I get $15.00 an hour and 36cents per gallon of Gas...Big stinking help that is!!!!!!!!!!! My friend an Entomologist for the University of Massachusetts is loosing her funding and worried about her job. My buddie Howie works federal, I think the pay still stinks, but the funding is more secure.
SO you do what we do for LOVE not MONEY, HONEY!

Depending on where you live and how strong the LOCAL union is there......there are always civil service jobs ...waste water plant operations is one that comes to mind. You would need at least a H.S. diploma to get an entry level job and you would have to take several mini courses to get a higher level of license. You would be taking these additional courses on your time or in the case of a large city possibly on their time. You will be exposed to a lot of math and chemistry and of course the higher the license the more the pay. This is not a hard job and from what I see, municipalities are always hiring.

Not necessarily an industry, but my friends run our club of universal welcome with our savings out of pocket money. I am the top Manager - call it Angel, and we've got Deputy Angel and so on. The others are Fairies, but we've got only three. You can join for free - we won't ask you for something like money, as we have our own way.
Call me at efclubss.multiply.com There is no pay but it's sort of leisure. Just write a few lines a week or a month and you'll be rewarded with something virtual. Well, if you insist helping environmentally friendly you can join us. We'll welcome you any time. Best of all there are no requirements and you won't be kicked off even you just sit there.

I started college majoring in Wildlife Ecology. I moved to Engineering school after my first year. Found out my pay would be about $12,000/year in Ecology. I had two kids and made more than that working during school.
Of course, that was in 1974. Sad, but true.

reading the entire AP tale on Yahoo or the different information superhighway source is an outstanding thank you to make certain you're getting the entire tale. in any different case, they have all have been given fairly of a slant. between television, and not with regards to which side which represents, CNN probably has the least and Fox information probably has the main. (i'm no longer able to assert i'm stunned you look to have disregarded Fox on your checklist of "filtering" information businesses.) To combat it, in simple terms determine you're no longer getting all your information from any single source.
