As you may know, both these meds are used to treat heart conditions. They both have several and different actions on the heart in an attempt to improve the hearts function. (from a loss of function from some heart problem)

One of these problems or diagnosis is CHF. These meds treat, not cause CHF.

CHF is kind of a "catch all" term to describe a heart with diminished function which could be for various causes. One being, a heart attack surviver. They made it though the event ,but not without some heart damage.

On the other hand, they are also used for high blood pressure which untreated could lead to CHF.

Very complex stuff, but the bottom line is, I would challenge meds causing CHF and see a cardiologist if your still concerned.

You need to talk this over with your doctor. Both Metoprolol and Norvasc are used to treat heart problems such as hypertension and tachycardia. They will not lead to congestive heart failure, the disease that they are treating will.

The most likely cause of your heart disease/failure is some combination of these risk factors: age (+65), heredity, gender (male), high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obesity, physical inactivity, diabetes, or smoking.

If they did, a lot more people would have CHF.

Talk over your concerns with your doctor.
