Not unless one has an outbreak even then why would you want to have sex anyway.
The only concern is oral as Type 1 can be caught by either but if you both take Valtrate then outbreaks will be under control.♥

As long as both of your herpes is caused by the same virus (either herpes simplex virus 1, or herpes simplex virus 2) you should be fine.

If you both have, for example, herpes simplex virus 2, then if you have unprotected sex you can't "reinfect" each other. Since herpes is for life and you both will always have it, you can't reinfect one another. If one of you has herpes simplex virus 1 and the other has herpes simplex virus 2, it's possible to spread those to each other. So, then both of you would have genital herpes caused by herpes simplex virus 1 and 2.

If you have sex while one person is on an outbreak though, it can sometimes cause the other person to experience an outbreak also. It's best to avoid anything sexual while one person is on an outbreak.

Also, if either one of you preform oral sex on each other, it's possible for the person giving to develop cold sores. Herpes can be transmitted from the genital area to the mouth and vice versa through oral sex.

Good luck!

With respect to the herpes, condoms won't make a difference to you or your wife. However, getting a thorough STD screen would let you know whether or not condoms would be a good idea for the prevention or other diseases.

Not if you both have the same type of herpes. I caught herpes HSV1 from recieving oral sex from my boyfriend (he gets cold sores) so as we both have HSV1 we don't bother.

Condoms only provide 50% protection anyway. If you are married and both have the same type, there hardly seems any point unless you are using them for contraceptive purposes.

You cant get it again, but keep in mind that viruses have different strains. This means that a different strain may affect you differently than your own. Your wife may have a strain that if you get it, it could provide worse symptoms or vice versa. If you caught it from her then you have the same strain, and I dont think theres anything to worry about. But, you can ask your doctor or her OB the next time you go in.

It doesn't seem like it, so long as you are faithful. If you both have it, you're not going to reinfect each other once you have it. I'm guessing that's what you're asking about and not pregnancy, right?
