My friend has Genital warts. He went to the store and bought wart medicine ( the kind you put on your finer, or knee) and applied it to his penis. Apparently the warts fried and fell off. I don't think this was a good idea...what could happen? Infection?

You are right, it is not a good idea! Most wart remover products are made with topical salicylic acid which should never, ever be used on the genitals. Also, salicylic acid used repeatedly can lead to extreme renal problems and since genital warts come and go, he would be using the solution repeatedly.

Genital warts are also infectious so he should not be touching, picking or squeezing them. He needs to leave them alone when he has them!

He can seek medical treatment to get rid of them (cryotherapy, laser treatment and electrodessication) but it is not permanent...they will return. He can also use certain medications but a prescription will be required. Surgery can also remove the warts and it has the lowest rate of recurrence.

Actually if u go to the doctor they will pescribe u aldara cream which is applied up to three times a wk. Some doctors will actually freeze the warts out and they will fall out, so i don't think that should be a problem. But u should definately go to the doctor to get the right medicine for the problem.
