I got a tattoo. I know the guy used a brand new clean needle but im not sure that he sterilized the tube. he gave a tattoo to someone with aids a few days before me. Is it possible blood could've gotten inside the tube and somehow on to the needle and then infected me?

no, the aids virus does not live outside the body for more than a few seconds. I'd be much more concerned about possible Hepatitis if I were you.

YES. Using the same tube without it being sterilized is a risk (although it may be a small one). Some studies actually show that HIV can live LONGER within a hollow needle that anywhere else outside the human body.

Its true, HIV/AIDS doesn't survive outside the body for more than a few minutes (lets say, in toilet water or on any kind of surface).... BUT inside a needle tube is a different story... where it can survive days and maybe even weeks!

GET CHECKED.

well if you used a condom, no. statistically, 1% of the world population has HIV. so one out of every 100 people in the world. the majority of these cases are located in south africa, where over half of their population is infected. so taking that into consideration, and assuming you don't live in washington DC (where i read that it was 3%,) the chances of having HIV are very very slim. for the record, if you're worried about this, you're most likely too young to be having sex in the first place. I would talk to your doctor about it at your next appointment, because HIV tests aren't accurate for a few months after exposure. so mention it to her, she'll let you know if you're at risk. also, was the girl a virgin? because if she was you're literally at almost zero risk. I'd say that it is healthy to be concerned about things like this, because it shows care for yourself and knowledge of the responsibilities that come with sex. But take it slow, and if you're really stressed out don't do it again until you've been tested. trust me, once you know you'll feel much better.

How do you know that he did a tattoo for someone with aids? If you knew that why didn't you think of going to someone else to get the tattoo done as a precaution?

The chances of that happening are slim. Reassure yourself & go to the doctor in a few days. They can start running tests. Good luck!

hiv is contracted through bodily fluids.

you might be in a risk so you need to get screened for it
