The cold virus that started the cough in the first place is contagious. But the pneumonia part of the illness down in the lungs is far less contagious. People who are exposed to someone with pneumonia may catch the normal cough and cold symptoms of the virus, but usually don't progress to pneumonia. The formation of the pneumonia is not determined by the particular cold virus or bacteria that the person has, but rather by each person's susceptibility in their own lungs.

Yes.

Persons with healthy tissues and strong vital force are unlikely to catch pneumonia. It is only when the system is clogged with the toxic matter and the vitality is low that the germs of pneumonia invade a person.

since people get shots to prevent pneumonia I would think that there is a reason why they do that. I suspect that anything can be caught from another if your system is weak. Usually people who get pneumonia are immediately treated and if unchecked they end up in a hospital and can die from that. So be careful for you and your friend.

Yes, it can. pnuemonia can be easily transmitted via fine droplets (from his mouth and nose), these droplets can fly 2 meters, by his sneeze and cough they can fly 10 meters. He must wear a mask on his mouth and nose, and you must keep away from him during the disease and wash your hands when touching something he thouched.

Yes Pneumonia can be passed to each other, but its likely you could have gotten the virus before he knew he had it. Wash your hands frequently, lysol the door knobs etc and have him cover when he coughs, but like i said most illness's are most contagious before you know you have them.

If you have a weakened immune system it is possible. Just wash your hands throughly anytime you touch something he might have touched.
