If you have ever had cold sore or the chickenpox you can have antibodies for the virus.

Since cold sores and chickenpox are both caused by the herpes simplex virus, and there is no cure for herpes, the virus becomes dormant in your body, and you are still able to have antibodies for it.

Kids who get chickenpox never really get rid of the virus, it just become dormant. It can also flare up again later on in life which causes shingles in adults.

Don't worry about it too much. You are perfectly fine!

Actually, yes that is true. I tested negative for herpes, but positive for the anti-bodies. I freaked out at first because I thought I had it and made my only sexual partner get tested; his herpes test came back negative. So, I went to another doctor and took the test again and she told me the same thing that the other doctor did. I asked how I could be positive with herpes antibodies and not the virus and she asked me if I ever had the chicken pox. Chicken pox are a certain type of herpes (even though some people don't know that). I said no because I really haven't. And then, she asked if I had that chicken pox vaccine shot and I said yes, and she said "That just answered your question right there."

So, it is possible to be positive with herpes antibodies, but THAT DOES NOT MEAN THAT YOU HAVE HERPES! Since I never had the chicken pox, I got the shot which injected me with the chicken pox virus so my body could fight it off. Because of that, I am positive with the herpes antibodies but not the virus. So in short, I can't give herpes to anyone because I actually don't have the virus.

So, to answer your question... No, you do NOT have herpes. :) I hope that I just took a weight off of your shoulders! lol

When they test they take a swab of the lesion, if there is no lesion or if the lesion is not from herpes, then you would test negative. Even if you have it. If you have a blood test it will tell for sure whether you have it. Antibodies mean that you have had it. The problem with the blood test though is that ANY antibodies will show up. Even the ones that cause cold sores. So aparently even if you don't have it but if you had cold sores as a kid you would show up as having the antibodies. Kinda confusing I know, hope this helps a bit.

I got clinically diagnosed with the herpes simplex virus (type 2) about six years ago, when I was still attending college and had a stupid one-night stand. I just made a massive mistake that one time and suddenly I felt like I was going to have to live with the consequences for the rest of my life. The worst part was feeling I could never date guys again. In the end, who wants to go out with someone that has sores around her you-know-what? But since a friend shared this video everything changed https://tr.im/treatmentherpes2015ozb7

Not only was I able to clear away all traces of the hsv from my body in less than 21 days, but I was also able to begin dating once more. I even met the man of my dreams. This method provided me the opportunity to be happy and experience real love. Now I want to enable you too by sharing this with the whole World.

That is a weird diagnosis. I would get a second opinion. Sometimes if you test to soon after exposure you can get a false negative. Becuase your body hasnt developed the antibodies yet. Thats the only thing I can get from what you said. Hope this helps. But get retested either way,
