Hiccups are acutally caused by a lack of Carbon Dioxide in the lungs, the diaphragm goes into spasms and the hiccups begin. They teach us some useful crap in college but hey, glad to share my useful knowledge!

1. Take a deep breath and hold the breath as long as you can.
2. Sugar concentrated water will help bring down hiccups.
3. If someone scares you, you could come out of it.

I don't know. I'm not sure exactly what causes them, but i know how to get rid of them (works for me,anyway). Take a deep breath and hold it as long as you possibly can (i learned the trick from my sister who's a nurse). Maybe you should teach the trick to the person you know :p
