I've read different statistics on this, but it's estimated about 30 - 50% of people who have had genital warts and had them treated, end up developing them again later on.

I had genital warts from my HPV about a year and 1/2 ago. I used Aldara cream and they went away in about 5 weeks and have luckily never came back.

Genital herpes is a little different though. Usually people with genital herpes will experience several outbreaks. I also have genital herpes, along with HPV. I've had about 5 genital herpes outbreaks in the last 6 years. Most of them were in the first few years though; I've been outbreak free for over 2 years now.

I was diagnosed with genital warts last year. I had them removed at a health department. So far they haven't come back. But because there's no cure for the virus (HPV), it's possible for warts to develop again.

Some women who have genital warts only have one outbreak, and then it never re-surfaces again in their life. They just have to keep getting pap smears to watch out for cervical cancer.

Genital warts is painless, unlike Herpes.

I had a friend in high school who got really sick for a week and was diagnosed with Herpes. She was put on medicine to prevent outbreaks.

I didn't have to take medicine. I just had the warts removed, and I'm supposed to get a pap smear every six months.

You will have break outs if you are still having sexual intercourse with the partner whom gave them to you, if they were given to you, or you passed it on to them. However, the virus will always stay in your body. If you change sexual partners the outbreaks will be less and may not even happen thereafter. Nonetheless, there are many treatments out their for genital warts, one being Valtrex which is prescribed by your doctor(lessens the outbreaks) If they are very bad then you can have them burnt off by laser treatment which is performed by a dermatologist and can be painful!) .

they need to be removed also need to have smear testing done once a year as can cause other problems your doctor can advise (it is not painful) re partner is he having other relationships ? you need to go back to protection most of the time not just some .
