Make a guest list. Pick a theme or list of ideas for how you want the party to feel. Send out the invites at least 2 weeks ahead of time, closer to a month ahead if you want more people to be able to make it to your party. Finger foods are easier and more fun to serve, make and eat. Pick our your music and make sure you have all the right equipment. Hit some of the dollar stores for inexpensive but fun decorations, plates, glasses, etc.... For your pool party get yourself an awesome new swimsuit :) For the dance party, make sure you have plenty of room to dance and make sure you invite plenty of people you KNOW will actually dance to get things going :)

Make lots of lists. First is guest list. Now you know how many people you need to provide beverage & food for. Choose a theme. Create an appropriate menu. Keep in mind you want to be a part of the party - choose items which do not need to be watched constantly. Send out your invitations & go shopping for the food in proportion to your guests. If possible, enlist friends who have a knack for something such as a DJ for a dance party. Have a great summer!
