create a fresh fruit tray, strawberries, apples, oranges, honeydew, grapes, ect; i've found those usually go over pretty good. a fresh veggie tray isn't usually as big of a hit, especially with kids, but it's also an idea. or if your looking for actual dish ideas: mix pineapple with cottage cheese; cook some spiral noodles then cool, mix in ricotta cheese, shredded pepperoni, finely diced onion, sliced black olives and some italian salad dressing; take a couple cans of fruit cocktail and of tropical fruit mix, drain them thoroughly and mix them in cool whip; make some koolaide but instead of serving it to drink, pour it into the ice cube tray and u can serve nifty colored ice cubes with your drinks (be careful about mixing flavors); take some ginger ale and mix it with fruit punch, then in each glass, add a couple scoops of rainbow sherbet; or make some deviled eggs, I don't know the receipt for that one off the top of my head but they're usually a pretty big hit. Well that's about all I can come up with on the spot but if I knew more along the lines of what u were actually seeking to make I might be able to provide more suggestions; I hope these ones help

Make a fresh fruit platter [with toothpicks for picking pieces up] with cubes of melon, whole grapes, pineapple chunks.. watermelon/cantaloupe/honeydew/casaba melons are all pretty together...kids like it too, and the grownups who want something to counter-balance those heavenly meatballs will appreciate the vitamins! Look for cherry tomatoes too - they dress up the raw veggie platter and are tidier than pieces of tomato would be. Plain bottled 'ranch' dressing goes in a bowl with the raw veggies...nothing needed for the fruit platter.

All of the above ideas, i love, but if the stuff is going to sit out for a long time in the heat, a pasta salad with oil-italian dressing will be safer than the mayo based salads.

Fresh fruit kabobs, veggies, pasta salads, potato salad, spinach dip and chili cheese dip. Make a few different kinds of homemade ice cream.

A veggie platter goes well and also a cheese tray, fruit tray the list is endless. I guess the question should be How much do you want to spend? My suggested is keep it simple, end with bd cake. Enjoy your party

How about some hot finger-foods e.g. small meat pies, sausage rolls with a ketchup or barbecue dip. There's also marinated chicken wings, and have you thought about something sweet for those who like "afters" - perhaps cheescake, small slices of cake or similar.

Keeping with the "easy" theme, you don't want to introduce forks and spoons for salad. I would go with all finger foods, maybe oven roasted potato wedges with dip, and crudites, and fruit

Little gourmet pies and mini quiches are always popular and can be bought at any supermarket or catering supplier in the frozen food section. All you have to do it reheat.
