What is the longest amount of time anyone has felt chest discomfort when quitting smoking? Is 6 weeks too long to be feeling this discomfort? Thre is a doctor appointment set up for Tuesday, so just looking for opinions now!

P.S. The feeling is soreness and tightness, almost constantly! And it's in a 26 year old female.

THANKS.

I am an ex smoker and when I quit, I felt sick like s***. I got bronchitis and was coughing and so tired. It felt like I had the flue. I was so scared to get up in the morning, because I started gagging and coughing. Eventually, my doctor prescribed me antibiotics. No doctor can tell you the side effects, because most of them have never smoked. However, you should get a chest x-ray done, next time you see your doctor. Just don't ever go back to that stupid habit. I sure wouldn't want to go through those after effects any more.

Not sure chest discomfort has something to do with quitting smoking. it might be just stress. Try magnesium pills.

Good luck

It's probably nervous tension from kicking the habit, it'll go away.
