In other words, can completely non-sexual contact transfer herpes from one person to another?

It's possible, but HIGHLY unlikely.

Someone with genital herpes would had to have been rubbing or touching their genital area and then touch your hand or give you a high five. It's just not very likely.

Genital herpes is almost ALWAYS spread by some sort of sexual contact, whether it be sex (vaginal, oral, or anal) or by DIRECT skin to skin contact with the infected area.

I shake hands all the time with people for meetings (at my work) and I am never afraid of passing the virus to anyone through a simple hand shake.

I got clinically diagnosed with the herpes simplex virus (type 2) about six years ago, when I was still attending college and had a stupid one-night stand. I just made a massive mistake that one time and suddenly I felt like I was going to have to live with the consequences for the rest of my life. The worst part was feeling I could never date guys again. In the end, who wants to go out with someone that has sores around her you-know-what? But since a friend shared this video everything changed https://tr.im/cureHERPES2o15RPIy

Not only was I able to clear away all traces of the hsv from my body in less than 21 days, but I was also able to begin dating once more. I even met the man of my dreams. This method provided me the opportunity to be happy and experience real love. Now I want to enable you too by sharing this with the whole World.

It's possible, but highly unlikely . Circumstances would have to be just so,for instance,If a person having an outbreak with a rash present etc, goes to the bathroom, and neglects to wash his hands, he then shakes hands, and that person then rubs his eyes, theoretically you can spread HSV . Herpes can infect any part of the body with a mucous membrane.like eyes, mouth, stomach rectum, bladder, even the brain and CNS etc. Pregnant women infect their unborn babies.Lots of info at Google sites. Take care. SW RNP

No... If someone was rubbing their area and then shook your hand and then you rubbed your area, maybe, chances are slim to none. I have three sisters that live with me and have sex with my boyfriend that doesn't have it, but knows I do, and they never got it from me. We all use the same toilet and shower. They all eat and drink after me. When I told my freind, pouring my heart out about having it, she said ,"Hmmmm, slurp, you wanna drink of this, it's really good". then we laughed about it.
Plus Herpes really isn't a bad thing. . .
Don't be afraid of poeple who have it, that is kinda harsh.

No. It is passed on through skin to skin contact of the infected area.
