Yes, vitamins will help build your immune system, but it is better to avoid sickness the old fashion way: staying healthy. Although it is impossible to completely prevent the body from being sick, it is very possible for you to lower the chances of becoming sick. This is done by reaching and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Working out during the week is extremely important for reaching a healthy lifestyle. If you have access to a gym use it. If your life is to busy for a 20 minuet workout then at least try taking a walk. Just try doing some form of physical activity even if its just biking or walking to work or other destinations you need to go to.
Another thing to help prevent sickness is to maintain a healthy diet. Eating right is crucial to a healthy lifestyle. Avoid eating junk food and processed foods that you see in supermarkets. Instead go for organic products. The more vegetables and fruits the better. I hope i have helped you by giving you a little background. If you are interested, healthy diets and workouts are everywhere.

There is no evidence that echinacea has any effect on boosting the immune system. Check out this article for more information on that:

In addition, high doses of vitamins can prevents diseases related to deficiencies but there is little evidence that they actually improve the performance of the immune system. And high doses of some vitamins can be toxic.

The best immune supplement out there is beta glucan. The type of beta glucan that comes from baker's yeast has been proven in over 40 years of research to boost the immune system. (other types are good for cholesterol lowering but not for immune function so be sure you are getting the right one). Beta glucan increases the number of immune cells, boosts the quickness in which immune cells respond to attacks by germs, etc., and helps them destroy these invaders more quickly.

A great product with Beta Glucan is Immune Alert. My family uses it and we are thrilled with the results. We hardly get sick and if we do feel something coming on, it seems to pass without ever really bringing us down.

No prevention
Just slowing the process.
Exercise regularly
No smoking so lungs will be healthy - lungs is one of the part of our organ that really need to be taken cared of.
Eating good diet - vegetables all the time and non-greasy food occasionally.

Our body is like a car. A car is good for 10 years. After 10 years with good maintenance - parts will start to break and becomes weak and needed to be replaced. If the car is not driven regularly - tires and others parts will get weaker early.

Our body is like that - if we don't exercise and exert effort - we start to get rusty and develop weak tendons and joints and muscle.

Of course, sometimes we can't avoid accidents (so as in cars).

Vitamins C,E, B-6, Zinc, CoEnzyme Q10 are all important antioxidants (don't exceed 100 milligrams of Zinc daily). Just be careful of the manufacturer, as some of the stuff you find that's cheap isn't of very high quality and purity. NOW Foods, TwinLabs, Lifetime, and Freeda are some good suppliers

One thing I have always done is exercise, stay clean and practice preventive medicine. Make sure you eat right since your body needs the proper fuel to stay healthy! Great choices are green leafy plants, vitamin C, folic acid, and of course, carbs and proteins in decent amounts.

Take vitamins especially vitamin C. Drink lots of orange juice. Eat a lot of fruits and vegetables and less alcohol and junk food.

I believe in the Himalayan Goji Juice, because it has more vitamins than oranges. It is full with antioxidants and trace minerals. You can compare it by looking it up on the "bovis scale".

Local (made close to where you are living) honey is one good preventative. Diet, rest, exercises and mental state are all factors. Let's not forget over indulging in certain substances.

I really think that by the time you're 2 your immune system is all programmed. If your Mom didn't let you get dirty, you're hosed.
