....ie: a dwelling suspended from a balloon, something along the lines of a zeppelin...but brought up to date.

how do land-laws and air-space regulations resolve themselves..if someone wanted to permanently moor themselves somewhere....much like a a caravan in the air?

You would have to prove safety and viability of the project. Questions like waste (would you use chemical or dry process?) Water(how much could you safely carry and how would you reuse or dispose of it) Fuel and Emissions (storage and fire safety as well as waste of same) Where do you propose to moor it? (an airport or private landing strip) How often to you plan to move it and where to? You would also have to address insurability and taxes. this is an interesting idea but there are many considerations to take into account. Good Luck!

While I can see the excitement of living in such a "home", there is absolutely no practical way to do it. The plumbing alone would be impossible. You would never get a building permit, there is no safe way to provide electrical because of the flammability issues, no one would insure you, I doubt you could get a loan, and the cost of whatever you used to inflate the thing would be extremely high.

Then there are the other issues mentioned...kids with pellet guns, waste disposal, gawkers, and just the problem keeping it moored somewhere without the wind tearing it to shreds...And I really doubt the FAA would like something big enough to live in floating around the airspace.

Interesting but not practical.

I guess it must fulfill the requirements for living quarters.
You must prove that the part that is suspended is safely fastened, and that it doesn't alter the flying qualities. This is if you want to be able to move it.
Interesting idea.

the first thing you would have to do if it was the same as a zeppelin is get a pilot's licence as it would be classed as an aeroplane plus you would also have to get permission from tha CAA and good luck with that one

My first worry would be neighborhood children with pellet guns. You just KNOW kids are going to fire at your balloon "just to see what happens"

Legally, you'd have to get a license to operate in airspace.

If that worked I would be shocked. I think everyone else would be too so you wouldn't have to worry about any laws, you'd just have to put up with all the gawkers.

where would you put the waste? and unless you let that float around the air too, would you have to pay council tax ( as part of this goes towards waste disposal)...........????

an interesting idea though
