It really depends on alot of different factors, such as what type of home the dog will live in (adults, kids etc.) how much time you can devote to the dog for exercising, playing etc., how large your house is and whether you are looking for a small dog or large dog. There are so many breeds of dogs and they all have different personalities and needs. Having said that I happen to own mini dauchshunds and just love their personalties and they are good with adults and children.

I have a boxer and would say they are the best dogs in a lot of ways but it is dependant on your life style.

If you are looking for a friendly, loyal, reliable, funny and gorgeous dog then I would say go for the boxer. They are probably the best family pets you can get due to their loyalty, very good nature and gentleness with children. (I can vouch for this as I have a new born who my boxer adores).

If you are going to be out all day then don't get a boxer. They are very social animals and like to be with their family all the time. Also, if you don't have a lot of time for cuddles and walks and playing then the boxer probably isn't for you.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

It's relaying by the purpose, you need the dog for! If you need a dog for hunting the badger, so be ensured, that a dachshund is even better like a weimaran! And it might be a joke to use a Chihuahua as a blind seeing eyes dog!
Sorry, but to get really helpful answers, it requires more information!!

My personal favorite is the BOXER!

Look for a boxer rescue organization near you!

No matter what breed you decide upon, be sure to research it thoroughly to be sure the dog will meet your needs and desires and vice versa.

I say this because if you plan on leaving a dog outdoors, I would never recommend you pursue the boxer breed as they can not tolerate either cold or hot weather extremes and live a quality life.

Best of luck in your search for a 4 legged friend!

That depends if you want a long haired or a short haired got and if it's large or not.

A large long haired dog would be perhaps a Siberian Huskey, VERY FRIENDLY but won't protect your house at all
A German Shepard is friendly as well and it will protect you house.

A large short haired dog would be perhaps a Dalmation but they can begin to get aggressive when they get older due to the fact that many of them go blind and or deaf.

A small short haired dog would be a daschund, very friendly and nice, and they WILL protect you. My friend had one and she was walking it and a man came up to her (yonkers, ny) and tried to get her to go with him and he bit the man and the man ran away. But VERY NICE dogs
